Participation of the HAPPY PATIENT team in World Antibiotic Awareness Week

The HAPPY PATIENT team is joining World Antibiotic Awareness Week. Specifically, Maarten Lambert and Katja Taxis have been invited to an event organized by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP).

This Monday, Lambert was one of five panelists presenting some results of the HAPPY PATIENT project in a webinar with around 300 pharmacists from all continents of the world.

Also, FIP has also compiled a report on pharmaceutical practice and antibiotic education and stewardship, and the HAPPY PATIENT project has been included in this report, which is publicly available and can be accessed here: https://www.fip.org/file/5655

This document highlights the insights of HAPPY PATIENT and how the project enhances Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) education across the European Union.

Furthermore, the document emphasizes that «large differences in practice between EU countries imply the need for EU-wide implementation of AMR education. This includes creating awareness of EU guidelines and educational interventions, which should be concrete and directly usable in practice. EU pharmacists were enthusiastic about face-to-face intervention meetings and audit-and-feedback meetings that let them reflect on their own practice».
